Prost: “We will fight”

Alain Prost, still second in the general classification of Andros Trophy, arrives in Lans-en-Vercors for the fifth round of the event. The four-time world champion knows that he will have no room for error on the Isère circuit, laid out in the middle of a pine forest, and often compared to a special stage of the Rally Montecarlo.

« This is an atypical circuit in the Trophy, comments the Professor. Between the two hairpins located at each end of the track, you must have very precise steering in rapid successions. To perform well, it is essential to have a very responsive car. » After the disappointments of Isola 2000, the Dacia Duster driver will want to make up for the points lost to Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Skoda Fabia), even if the task will be complicated.

« I start each race with the firm intention of winning, but it won't be easy., confides Alain. At Isola, we were not at our best level. The team has been working on the car and the engine this week, but it is difficult to correct a lot in such a short time. We continue to learn for our first season with the Dacia Duster, and it is all the more difficult as we have to face opponents at the top of their potential. »

Far from falling into defeatism despite his 25 points behind Dayraut, Prost hopes to quickly return to the top of the table, banking on his consistency to stay in the title race. “ The gap is starting to become significant, but you never know how the situation may evolve. With the two worst results counted at the end of the season, the debates remain open. As long as we have a chance to win the title, we will fight with the same desire! »
