Prestigious wildcards in Barcelona

The second round of World RX held at the end of the month in Barcelona (Spain) revealed several recognized wildcards.

Better known as “Knapick”, Hervé Lemonnier will make his return in his private DS 3. The Frenchman will notably face Tamas Karai entered in an Audi A1.

Sir Chris Hoy will make his debut in Rallycross by being entered in a Ford Fiesta prepared by Xite Racing, the structure which also fields Oliver Bennett's Mini Cooper. The six-time Olympic cycling gold medalist has benefited from the support of Dayinsure, the title sponsor of the Silverstone World RX round, as well as the discipline's manufacturer Cooper Tires.

“It’s always been a goal of mine to one day drive a Rallycross car, but it will really be something special to compete against the best drivers in the world”, confided the 2015 champion of theELMS in the LMP3 category which will be tested next week on the Pembrey circuit (Great Britain).

As expected, Jani Paasonen will be registered on the second Foesta of Team Stard alongside Janis Baumanis.

19 cars will therefore be expected for this second round of the season, two more than in Abu Dhabi. Nine manufacturers will be represented.
