Kristoffersson takes control after Q2 at Estering

Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) won Q2 of the World RX in Estering (Germany) and took the lead in the general classification from his teammate Petter Solberg. After his victory in Q1, the three-time world champion was in the best position with pole for his race against the Swede, but it was the latter who made the best start to set the best time of the day.

By changing strategy at the last second by delaying his passage through the joker lap by one lap, Petter Solberg was only able to set the 3rd time behind Andreas Bakkerud (Audi). The 2003 champion of WRC beat Timmy and Kevin Hansen (Peugeot ), Timmy Hansen having given in to Andreas Bakkerud in his race.

Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot), however, is only in 9th position in Q2. The nine-time WRC champion failed behind Niclas Grönholm (Hyundai) and Janis Baumanis (Ford). Guerlain Chicherit (Renault) completed the Top 10 ahead of his teammate Anton Marklund. Kevin Eriksson (Ford) ranked 12th ahead of Robin Larsson (Ford) and Oliver Bennett (Mini), winner of the first race of Q2. Liam Doran (Renault) finished 15th after stalling. The “British Bomb” is ahead of Kjetil Larsen (Volkswagen), René Münnich (Seat) and Grégoire Demoustier (Peugeot).

Wildcard Cyril Raymond (Peugeot) set the final time after suffering two spins. Timur Timerzyanov (Hyundai) retired after hitting the wall in the wild lap.

Johan Kristoffersson thus occupies the lead in the ranking ahead of his teammate Petter Solberg. Andreas Bakkerud finds himself 3rd ahead of Kevin Hansen who precedes Mattias Ekström, Timmy Hansen and Niclas Grönholm. Sébastien Loeb is 8th ahead of Janis Baumanis and Anton Marklung. Guerlain Chicherit and Kevin Eriksson complete the provisional list of qualifiers.

Q3 of the World RX will be contested this Sunday from 9:40 a.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr with dedicated live streaming.
