FIA launches tender to replace IMG as World RX promoter

The World Championship rallycross (World RX) is looking for a parent. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) launched a call for tenders this Wednesday, October 14 to ensure the promotion of the discipline.

The IMG company took over the European Championship in 2013, before launching the global version a year later. This is therefore an important turning point that the rallycross world is about to experience, starting in 2021.

Indeed, IMG had signed a contract to ensure the promotion of World RX in 2021 and 2022, which will not be the case after “discussions between IMG and the FIA”, specifies the press release.

The FIA wants to be reassuring and expresses its desire to guarantee its “commitment and desire to ensure the success of World RX in the long term”, while continuing the electric revolution initiated by IMG in recent years. In 2022, the championship will become entirely electric.
