2021 marks the last season of thermal Supercars in the world championship of rallycross. Now named RX1, the premier category of World RX will go electric in 2022, changing its name to RX1e.
The development of the electrical part was carried out by the Austrian company Kreisel Electric. The next World RX car features two 250 kW engines bringing its total power to 500 kW or 680 horsepower for a torque of 800Nm. Two converters and a 52.65kWh battery “ with an innovative cooling system » complete the power unit of this RX1e. On the scale, the mount weighs 1.300 kilos.
In development for several months, the car underwent a series of tests and notably covered more than 1.000 kilometers of road in Austria. New tests are still planned for next year before its final introduction to competition in 2022.
