The 2019 calendar revealed, five F1 tracks on the program

Exit historic tracks, hello F1 circuits! This is the leitmotif of the 2019 World Championship calendar. rallycross (World RX), unveiled Thursday. Of the 11 meetings planned between April and December, five will take place on venues Formula 1.

Indeed, the season will begin on the new route of Abu Dhabi in the middle of the jet-set and the camels on April 5 and 6. This will be followed by the trip to the last sector of the Barcelona circuit (Spain), a meeting which opened the campaign for the last two years. The Catalan organizers have also renewed their lease with IMG (promoter of the Wold RX) for four additional years. Powerful 600 horsepower machines will then attack the Eau Rouge at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) may's beginning.

The Silverstone circuit (Great Britain) and its flat track like the plains of Northamptonshire clearly remain more suitable places than the old Lydden Hill track, the cradle of rallycross and absent since 2018. The second part of the season will take place on fortunately well-known places of the RX caravan with Norway in Hell and Sweden at Höljes.

The Trois-Rivières festival (Canada) remains part of the party as well as the biggest event of the year in terms of attendance, Lohéac (Ille-et-Vilaine). Another old-school route will be present with Riga in Latvia. But the sirens of F1 are heard again with the cauldron of Austin (Texas) and its packed stands (view the photo). The season will end in South Africa for the third consecutive time.

To make way for ultra-modern complexes, it was necessary to oust traditional places of world rallycross. We can imagine the disappointment of the Portuguese and German fans, who concentrated in their tens of thousands at Portalegre and Estering to follow “old-fashioned” World RX races, with elevation and sandboxes instead of asphalt areas. The only consolation for the Germans was a round of the European Rallycross Championship (ERX).
