Hansens dominate Q1 in Abu Dhabi

Q1 of World RX in Abu Dhabi was dominated by the Peugeot 208 of the Hansen family. It was Timmy who set the best time, ahead of his brother Kevin by half a second despite the presence of Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) who slowed him down by using another strategy.

Anton Marklund (Renault Megane RS) saves the furniture at GCK by taking the 6th time. His teammates were less enthusiastic since boss-driver Guerlain Chicherit only ranked 9th behind Timur Timerzyanov (Hyundai i20) and Janis Baumanis after a bad start. But it is within the GCK Academy that the problem lies since Cyril Raymond (Renault Clio RS) abandoned the race while his teammate Guillaume de Ridder did not even show up on the grid.

Krisztian Szabo (Audi S1) completed the Top 10 ahead of the new Skoda Fabia driven by Rokas Baciuska. Liam Doran (Audi S1) finished 12th ahead of Oliver Bennett (Mini Cooper) and Reinis Nitiss (Audi S1).

New point in the regulations, the draw determining whether the fastest will start first or last has indicated that it will be the best performers in Q1 who will start the second qualifying round.
