Niclas Grönholm wins in Abu Dhabi

Niclas Grönholm won the World RX final in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina circuit. The GRX driver was faster than pole sitter Kevin Hansen (Peugeot 208 WRX) and pushed the Swede to take the advantage. The maneuver is under investigation and the results remain provisional, but the son of the double champion WRC Marcus Grönholm inscrira sa première victoire et le premier succès de Hyundai en World RX si les résultats sont entérinés.

The Finn, however, almost did not qualify for the final after contact with Rokas Baciuska (Skoda Fabia) forcing him to cut the first corner.

Kevin Hansen had to settle for second place on the podium after dominating the second day following the retirement of his brother Timmy (Peugeot 208 WRX).

Liam Doran (Audi S1) scored an unexpected podium after starting from the last row. In the fight with Timo Scheider (Seat Ibiza), the Briton took the advantage by taking advantage of a mechanical problem for the double champion DTM who finished last in the final behind Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) and Krisztian Szabo (Audi S1).

Guerlain Chicherit (Renault Mégane RS) failed at the gates of the final by placing 4th in front of Cyril Raymond (Renault Ckio RS), the two GCK drivers having suffered damage at the start of their semi-final. Anton Marklund (Renault Megane RS) was not more successful after seeing his mount damaged by Renis Nitiss' Hyundai i20 which ended up on its roof by leaning too hard on a curb.
