Little champion, Laboulle wins

Samuel Peu is the first French Champion of the season in Rallycross, after winning the championship in Division 1A, before the last two events of the season (Essay and Dreux). Rather discreet during practice, Peu (Citroën Saxo Kit Car) only started from the second row during the race but managed to catch up with the leader, Davy Jeanney (Peugeot 206 Super 1600), before making a slight cross. The two men took the joker lap at the same time, leaving the lead to young Steven Bossard (Citroën C2 Super 1600). The latter took his slow turn and gave command back to Davy Jeanney. He won ahead of Samuel Peu, who scored enough points to win the title before the last two events of the season.

Marc Laboulle (Citroën Xsara WRC) could also be designated champion in Mayenne thanks to a favorable combination of circumstances. If he did not succeed, he came very close and should be titled at Essay in two weeks. It benefits from a large lead in the Division 1 ranking thanks to the failure experienced by David Meslier, victim of an overheating problem. Starting in pole position for the race, Marc Laboulle was able to quickly distance himself, his opponents quickly taking their joker lap. Fabien Pailler (Peugeot 207 WRC), starting on the third row, managed, with the benefit of the slow laps, to climb into second position behind the unbeatable Marc Laboulle. The latter won the race with title hopes postponed to the Essay weekend.
