Rallycross – Bakkerud beats Solberg in the final at Lohéac

Despite Sébastien's efforts Loeb (Citroën DS3), the Alsatian did not manage to enter the Final of the Rallycross of Lohéac. Starting from the second row in the semi-final, the nine-time world champion WRC has chosen to take his obligatory joker turn last (slower than a normal turn). If his strategy paid off, the Citroën driver failed in fourth position behind Andreas Bakkerud (Citroën DS3), Tanner Foust (Ford Fiesta) and Timur Timerzyanov (Citroën DS3). On the other hand, Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3) was more successful since he won his semi-final ahead of Davy Jeanney (Citroën C4) and Gaetan Serazin (Peugeot 207). However, Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Peugeot 207 WRC) also saw his weekend end by falling just short of the podium.

Petter Solberg was aiming for a first victory in the European Rallycross Championship by starting at the front on the grid for the Lohéac Finale. But the 2003 WRC world champion found himself facing his compatriot Andreas Bakkerud who managed to find an opening on the leader to go on to achieve a second consecutive success after his victory in Sweden at the Höljes Motorstadion. “I tried to pass Petter for the first time, but I found myself on the outside. We put on a magnificent show in this final. This victory is important for the Championship. » Davy Jeanney also performed well as he completed the podium ahead of the leader of the Drivers' standings Timur Timerzyanov. Gaetan Serazin took fifth place while Tanner Foust ended his race with an exit from the track.

At the end of the seventh round of the season, Timur Timerzyanov nevertheless consolidated his status as leader with 15 points ahead of Timmy Hansen who failed to rank fifth in the semi-final. Davy Jeanney takes a unit from the Russian but above all comes back to five points behind the Swede. The drivers entered for the season will still have two events to compete with the rounds of Greinbach in Austria on September 14 and 15 and Estering in Germany on September 21 and 22. Note that 50 spectators made the trip to Lohéac this weekend. Videos from the weekend in Lohéac can be found on this link.
