Solberg returns to his RallyCross roots

Petter Solberg has turned the page on WRC at the end of last year with the departure of Ford. The Norwegian, without a contract for the 2013 season, indicated that he was going to turn to other disciplines and his choice ultimately fell on RallyCross where he first became known. “I won silver medals in RallyCross and hillclimbs in Norway in 1994 and took gold the next two years. I was thinking about competing in the European RallyCross in 1996 but rally took me away from it. I spent 15 years of my life in rallying before the adventure ended last December. I received many offers to join various disciplines, but I felt that (RallyCross) represented the best opportunity. It's a place where I can be myself. »

If the complete program of the 2003 WRC world champion is being finalized, the Norwegian is likely to participate in the Global RallyCross contested in the USA across ten events and which offers the possibility of competing in the X-Games organized this year in Brazil, in Barcelona, Munich and Los Angeles, as well as specific events of the European RX which includes a round in Lohéac (August 30 and September 1). Petter Solberg will be entered in a Citroën DS3 under his own structure. “I really want to become champion at least one more time in my career. You know how I am, I like to put on a show and make noise. RallyCross suits me perfectly. »
