The World Championship rallycross (World RX) will go electric from 2020. The Projekt E category will evolve on the sidelines of World RX during certain European rounds, as the news of April 2 revealed. But since May 22, the identity of the supplier of electric powertrains has been known. It's Stard.
This partnership was established thanks to the desire of the Austrian structure to work around an electric car project. The Hiper, an electric Supercar based on Peugeot 207 S2000, left the workshops of Manfred Stohl in 2017.
“We expect this project to redefine a category of motorsport, says Manfred Stohl, the president of Stard. Rallycross is a demanding discipline that evolves in a unique environment. In order to achieve the right level of performance, it is vital to gain enough experience to understand the necessary elements.
In addition to our Research and Development work and our World RX team since 2015, we have built a unique development and testing program with our latest generation of electrical components later this year, with three different car models », reveals the former pilot of rally.
