Timerzyanov takes his first victory at Spa

Timur Timerzyanov (Hyundai i20) finally took his first victory in World RX. The double European champion, present in the world championship since his debut in 2014, won the final at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) at the end of his 64th start in the discipline.

The Russian beat Andreas Bakkerud (Audi S1), leader after the qualifying heats who won ahead of the GRX rider in the semi-final, while Joni Wiman made a brilliant debut with Marcus Grönholm's team by completing the podium after securing a first row in the final.

Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208) recovered well after a sluggish start to the meeting, finishing just off the podium. The Swede beat Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) and Liam Doran (Audi S1).

Anton Marklund (Renault Mégane RS RX) and Kevin Hansen (Peugeot 208) failed to reach the final by finishing 4th in the semi-final. The GC Kompetition driver preceded Cyril Raymond (Renault Clio RS RX) and Mattias Ekström (Audi S1), while the Team Hansen MJP driver finished ahead of Timo Scheider (Seat Ibiza) and Krisztian Szabo (Audi S1).

In RX2, Damien Meunier narrowly missed qualifying for the final by finishing 4th in his semi-final after starting from the back of the grid. Oliver Eriksson scored his second consecutive victory ahead of Jesse Kallo.
