In 2023, the World Championship of Rallycross (World RX) will celebrate its tenth season by internationalizing outside Europe. As restrictions linked to the Covid-19 health crisis are less strict, the WRX will be able to travel to Africa and Asia in 2023. Cape Town (South Africa) will return to the World RX after having hosted it in 2017 and 2018, at Killarney International Raceway, October 21-22, 2023. An Asian round will close the season on November 25-26, 2023, the location is still to be determined and will be announced at a later date.

Sweden and Great Britain return

The first six rounds of the calendar will take place in Europe. As in 2022, the championship will begin in Hell (Norway) in mid-June, before moving to arguably the most famous circuit in the discipline, in Höljes (Sweden) to celebrate the 100th round of World RX since its creation. , in 2014. Three weeks later, the championship will return to Britain for the first time since 2019, with a stay at Lydden Hill, where rallycross was born more than half a century ago.

Belgium remains on the calendar, but the championship leaves Spa-Francorchamps to go to Mettet on August 5 and 6. The last two European events will take place in Montalegre (Portugal) and Estering (Germany) in September. After a successful return last year, Nyirád (Hungary) will once again host the European Rallycross Championship on May 20-21, 2023, in a standalone event. The full European calendar will be communicated later.

“We are pleased to present the 2023 World RX calendar, which we believe represents the best of rallycross and which has been the subject of a huge effort behind the scenes in recent months,” said Arne Dirks, Executive Director of Rallycross Promoter GmbH. It's definitely a little different from recent seasons, and we're excited to finally be able to 'spread our wings' and venture outside of Europe again. »
