World RX – Chris Atkinson explores his options for 2016

Du WRC at the World Championship Rallycross, several drivers regularly turn to the new discipline that is currently in vogue. The best example remains reigning World Champion Petter Solberg, brilliantly converted after his career on the roads of rally World.

The Norwegian could well reunite with one of his former teammates from the Subaru era. The Australian Chris Atkinson, vu chez Hyundai l’an dernier au Mexique et en Australie, espère bien s’aligner dès l’an prochain en World RX, et étudie actuellement les possibilités d’un engagement.

“I think the concept is excellent, explains the 35-year-old pilot. I always thought rallycross had a really cool format and you can see that now with the development of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The manufacturers are getting involved and it is constantly evolving with the move to a more professional stage.

WRCs are amazing, but these rallycross cars have about double the horsepower. Everyone who has been able to ride them, has said that it was like an explosion: from 0 to 100km/h in 1,8-2,0 seconds, every time you do that, it's impressive.

Growing there would be a lot of fun. I look forward to exploring the possibilities with the Roots Managment International team and being on the grid for 2016."

World RX will resume its rights this weekend in Canada, for the Trois-Rivières event.
