World RX – Ekström beats Loeb in Mettet

Winner last week at Hockenheim during the previous event in Germany, Mattias Ekstrom confirmed his peak speed at the wheel of the Audi S1 of the EKS RX this weekend by winning the Belgian round of Mettet on the Jules Tacheny track.

Leader after the qualifying rounds, Ekström won his semi-final against Sébastien Loeb (Team Peugeot -Hansen) and François Duval (Ford Fiesta) who took advantage of the disqualification of Janis Baumanis to reach the final. In the other half, TImmy Hansen (Team Peugeot-Hanse), author of a false start, just like Reinis Nitiss, was unable to climb into the six finalists after a round pocketed by Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3).

Finally, Ekström won ahead of Sébastien Loeb and Petter Solberg and now has a five-point lead over the Norwegian in the championship.
