World RX – Solberg leads at Lydden Hill

Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) dominated the first day of World RX at Lydden Hill (Great Britain) by winning the first two qualifying heats ahead of his teammate Johan Kristoffersson.

The hierarchy seems well drawn since the top five finished in the same order during both sessions. Mattias Ekström (Audi) took 3rd place each time ahead of Andreas Bakkerud (Ford Focus) and Timmy Hansen (Peugeot ).

Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot) also showed great consistency by taking 7th and 6th places in both rounds. The nine-time champion of WRC ahead of Ken Block (Ford Focus).

Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Peugeot) is in 15th place while his teammate Grégoire Demoustier is in 18th position. Kevin Hansen (Peugeot) is only 21st after retiring in Q2 following a mechanical problem.

Toomas Heikkinen (Audi) is only 14th after experiencing mechanical problems in Q2 after taking 8th place in the first heat. Niclas Grönholm (Ford Fiesta) rolled over during Q1, but his 10th place in Q2 still allowed him to move up to 16th place.
