World RX – Solberg wins at Lydden Hill, PSRX double

Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) took his first victory of the season by winning the World RX finale at Lydden Hill for the last appearance of the discipline before the replacement of the British round by Silverstone in 2018.

The PSRX boss-driver chose to quickly perform his joker lap and was able to take control again to win ahead of his teammate Johan Kristoffersson who took control of the Championship for 4 points ahead of Mattias Ekström (Audi ), winner of the first three meetings.

Mattias Ekström could only take 5th place in the final after suffering a puncture. The reigning world champion preceded Timmy Hansen (Peugeot ) victim of the same evil.

The podium was completed by Andreas Bakkerud (Ford Focus). The Hoonigan Racing driver beat Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot), 2nd in the semi-final behind Johan Kristoffersson.

PSRX now has a lead of 69 points over Team Peugeot-Hansen. EKS follows in 3rd place, 6 units behind the Franco-Swedish team.
