World RX – Timerzyanov takes back the lead at Montalegre

Timur Timerzyanov dominated the first two rounds of the Montalegre event, but the resident of the Team Peugeot -Hansen was disqualified during the second round for contact with Petter Solberg. However, the commissioners canceled the sanction after viewing the on-board cameras (see video). “It’s a good start for me and for the team. The main race is tomorrow but I want to be on pole again. Maybe I'll achieve something special in the final.", declares the reigning European champion.

The Russian is thus ahead of the Olsberg Fords of Andreas Bakkerud and Reinis Nitiss. Petter Solberg is now in tenth place while Jacques Villeneuve now occupies 15th place. His teammate Andy Scott is now in eighth position. “It was a difficult day of learning and I have to attack because the level is very high,” comments the Canadian. “The car seems to react differently compared to the tests carried out this winter. I made a mistake in the first race and had a puncture in the second, but I hope to do better tomorrow. »

The video summary of the first day in Montalegre can be seen on this link.
