World RX – A stadium planned in Lohéac

The Lohéac circuit (Ille-et-Vilaine) is one of the biggest events of the World RX season. The presence of Sébastien Loeb promises another great edition in 2016 after several tens of thousands of spectators came to watch the world events of Rallycross on Breton territory over the last two years.

Patrick Germain, the director of the Lohéac circuit, spoke in Ouest France future prospects for the French channel. “As early as January, we began discussions to extend for five years. The promoter agrees in principle. But he puts conditions there relating mainly to the equipment of the circuit”, explained the latter.

In order to meet the standards of a world championship, the management of Lohéac plans in particular to create a stadium.

“To be in competition with circuits of Formula 1 and not the least, like Hockenhein (Germany) or Barcelona (Spain), encouraged me to launch the project of a rallycross stadium in Lohéac…”, added Patrick Germain. “Everyone must be aware that by becoming so important, this World Cup will attract the desire of major international circuits and States who want to use the discipline as a showcase... Without major awareness and without help from communities, this that we built alone will be very complicated to sustain…”

The disappearance of Lohéac from the World RX calendar would nevertheless be surprising in the near future. The success of this event is almost assured every year with the French representatives in the paddock and the interest of the public.
