WorldRX – Petter Solberg takes a breath in Germany

Petter Solberg's summer in the World Championship Rallycross will remain perfect. Since the Trois-Rivières round in Canada, the former world rally champion WRC is undefeated, having won at Lohéac for the French meeting and therefore this weekend in Germany on the Estering track. The Citroën DS3 Supercar driver, however, encountered strong opposition in the final from the Audi S1 of Mattias Ekström (EKS RX) who failed by just five thousandths against Solberg. It's another Audi, that of Robin Larsson, which completes the podium in the final.

Pontus Tidemand confirms that the Audi S1s were in good spirits at home by taking 4th place ahead of the Volkswagen Polo of Toomas Heikkinen, who after the Estering round is 52 points behind Solberg in the general classification with only three events before the end of the year. Timmy Hansen places his Peugeot 208 for Team Hansen in 6th position, failing to realize the hopes of the team supported by the Lion after having placed its two drivers in the first three places at the end of the qualifying heats. The 2014 World RX will return to Italy next weekend on the FranciaCorta track, near Brescia.

Find the report from the German round of the World RX in issue 1979 of AUTOhebdo, available from tomorrow in digital version and from next Wednesday on newsstands.
