Loeb: “Fuel pressure problems over the last 50 kilometers”

Despite having picked up his 16th stage victory on a Dakar, Sebastian Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) gave a rather circumspect speech at the finish of the seventh stage this Sunday, January 9 in Al Dawadimi (Saudi Arabia). “We had fuel pressure problems over the last 50 km, revealed the nine-time world rally champion (WRC). The car stalls, stops moving, then accelerates, I don't know. We changed all the engine modes.

We concentrated on all the buttons, we spent our time making it move forward, because at times we wondered if it wasn't going to stop three kilometers from the finish. We finished in slow motion, as best we could. It's a little frustrating because frankly we were at full strength until then and over these last 50 km, we lose a lot (of time). »

“It remains encouraging, continues the Alsatian. We did a great special, we attacked hard, we didn't make any big navigation errors. »

The other side of the coin, the leader of BRX training, who is 44'59'' behind Al-Attiyah-Baumel in the general classification, will have to open the track on Monday. « We don't care, we don't have a strategy, boot hits the pilot. Today, we are no longer in a position where we can manage anything. You have to do the job, whether you start at the front or behind. »
