Rokas Baciuska sets the pace on the Bikernieki track in Riga, Latvia this Saturday. The resident of the GCK Academy hoisted his Renault Megane RS RX at the top of the provisional hierarchy in the qualifying heats, after notably winning Q1.
4e en Q2, le Lituanien emmène ce soir dans son sillage Niclas Grönholm (Hyundai i20 – GRX), vainqueur de son côté de la Q2.
The top 5 in the general classification is currently completed by Anton Marklund (Renault Megane RS RX – GC Kompetition), and the two drivers at the top of the championship standings Andreas Bakkerud (Audi S1 – Monster Energy RX Cartel) and Kevin Hansen (Team MJP Hansen – Peugeot 208).
Only two, because Timmy Hansen (Team MJP Hansen), tied on points with his brother before this penultimate round of the season, had a day without.
Only 7th in Q1 after losing time in his race in the first two corners, the Swede was forced to retire in Q2 after a suspension failure, following a contact initiated by Robin Larsson (Audi S1 – JC Raceteknik) in the first two turns, the latter being immediately disqualified.
Breaking out the emojis for the second heat in a row
Timmy gets stuck between two cars through the first chicane and, with nowhere to go, spins. Damaged right-rear suspension forces him to remove.

A setback which for the moment ejects Timmy Hansen from the top 12 qualifying for the semi-finals, and could offer a twist in the fight for the world title.
Another highlight of the day was the roll of Timur Timerzyanov (GRX) in Q1, the Russian only ranked 11th in the standings.
