Timur Timerzyanov on the grid in Barcelona

On July 23 and 24, the first meeting of the 2021 season will take place. Rallycross RX. On this occasion, the teams gradually announce the drivers who will participate in the great return of the discipline. For the GRX-SET team, a well-known driver in the paddock will take the wheel of the third car: Timur Timerzyanov. 

The Russian has already achieved six podiums including a third place in Barcelona in 2016 but also a victory two years ago during the meeting at Spa Francorchamps.

“Rallycross has always been a big part of my life but the world has changed a lot in recent years and these changes have forced sponsors to re-evaluate their priority by adopting different philosophies, declares the Russian pilot. I'm not going there as if I was going to do the whole 2021 season. I thank my sponsors who allow me to do what I love for one more meeting. We have an agreement for Barcelona only with the team but if the opportunity arises between now and then, I will do others.”

For the previous three seasons, Timerzyanov rode for the GRX team, alongside Niclas Grönholm. So he doesn't arrive in a new environment.
