Toyota with four crews at the Dakar

Avec sept podiums en neuf participations au Dakar dont une victoire en 2019, Toyota veut poursuivre sur sa lancée. C’est pour cette raison que le constructeur japonais a décidé de miser gros sur la prochaine édition en Arabie saoudite.

Indeed, Toyota has chosen to enter no less than four Hilux at the 2021 Dakar. All were developed in the team's headquarters near the Kyalami circuit in Johannesburg (South Africa). Winners in 2019 with the brand, Nasser Al-Attiyah and his co-driver Mathieu Baumel were entrusted with one of the cars.

« I am very happy to return to the Dakar, especially behind the wheel of the Toyota Hilux once again. We won in 2019 and finished second in 2020 with this car. It's time to go to Saudi Arabia and fight for victory », rejoices Nasser Al-Attiyah.

Giniel de Villiers and his navigator Alex Haro will also be at the controls of a Hilux next January. The other two Toyota crews are Henk Lategan-Brett Cummings (first participation) and Shameer Variawa-Dennis Murphy.

The start of the 2021 edition is scheduled for January 3. Twelve stages are on the program for an end on the 13th of the same month.
