An uninhibited Bentley Continental GT3 for Pikes Peak

After two years of participating in the Pikes Peak hill climb (Colorado) aboard unspectacular vehicles, Bentley understood that it had to make enthusiasts dream on the occasion of its third start in 2021 on June 27. Result: a very aggressive Continental GT3 will be entered!

This copy will use a biofuel. The English manufacturer is taking the opportunity to announce a long-term program on synthetic fuels, which could in the future be used by the brand's production vehicles.

Bentley Engineering Board Member Dr. Matthias Rabe comments: “Our powertrain engineers are already researching biofuels and clean fuels for use by our customers alongside our electrification program – with interim steps of adopting renewable fuels at the Crewe factory and for our company fleet . In the meantime, the Continental GT3 Pikes Peak will show that renewable fuels can enable motorsport to continue responsibly, and we hope she will win the third and final record of our triple crown. »

Bentley has in fact held the best times in the Production SUV (Bentayga W12) and Production Car (Continental GT) category since 2018 and 2019. This time, the firm is tackling the Time Attack record, with, at the wheel, Rhys Millen, winner in 2012 ahead of Romain Dumas.

As for the monster, if it preserves its 8-liter turbo V4.0, its power will be less sensitive to the depletion of oxygen as it climbs, thanks precisely to these biofuels. No precise figures have been released.

Visually, there was some work! The rear wing is much more imposing than the GT3 version, as are the aerodynamic appendages at the front. The rear side windows have been replaced by air intakes.
