Here is Romain Dumas' Porsche 911 GT2 RS for Pikes Peak

Romain Dumas and Pikes Peak (Colorado), it's a long love story. The pilot of Alès (Gard), author of record for the “Rise to the Clouds” aboard the electric Volkswagen ID R in 2018, will return to Colorado in 2021 with a thermal car, and what a car!

The Frenchman was able to take the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport entered by the Champion Racing team, during a test session at the end of last week. The double winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans in the general classification benefits from a model modified by an aerodynamic pack even more aggressive than the basic version. Michelin also supplies suitable tires.

Does this patchwork remind you of anything? If you followed the 24 2005 Hours of Le Mans, it is impossible to forget the livery of the winners Tom Kristensen, JJ Lehto and Marco Werner. Aboard the Audi R8 LM P1, the three men gave victory to the Champion Racing team against the Pescarolos.

The original decoration was imagined by the founder of Champion Racing, Dave Maraj and the artist Dave Schnorr in 1995. The latter was called upon again to bring a touch of modernity to the colorful design.

The 99th edition of Pikes Peak will take place on June 27.
