Volkswagen and Dumas break the record for an electric car at the Nürburgring

After Pikes Peak and the absolute record for the legendary American event, Volkswagen Motorsport and Romain Dumas once again wrote the history of electric motorsport this Monday at the Nürburgring.

Romain Dumas achieved this new record in hot conditions in Germany, on his second attempt of the afternoon, after two other times previously established in the morning, which had already brought down the NIO benchmark.

“We learned at every turn, underlines Dumas. We could stay another week, we don't really know where the limits are. Pikes Peak was really important. What was today was the improvement in such a short time.

We were able to play a little in the afternoon with the settings... For my part, I really didn't have any room left. We have really evolved since the tests carried out here a few days ago. If we went back to Pikes Peak, I think we would go a lot faster than we did. »

Volkswagen Motorsport and Romain Dumas will tackle the climb in September of Mount Tianmen in China to try to achieve a new performance on an 11 km climb.
