VW at Pikes Peak in 2018
After a first mystery teaser broadcast in the afternoon, Volkswagen Motorsport announced via a video published on social networks that it wanted to try its luck again on the most famous hill climb in the world, namely Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Event which, in 2018, will take place on Sunday June 24.
As a reminder, the German manufacturer has already participated in this event, which celebrated its 100the birthday last June. It was in 1986 and 1987, with a Golf Pikes Peak driven by Jochi Kleint and which had the particularity of being powered by two 1,8 liter engines whose combined power exceeded 650 hp. Ahead at the intermediates, she was forced to retire a few corners from the finish.
A failure which has obviously not yet been digested. We can bet that the German manufacturer will not make the trip to Colorado for nothing. From there to breaking Sébastien's record Loeb (8'13"878), signed in 2013?
