World RX – Kristoffersson dominates in Sweden

On his land, in complicated weather conditions and a muddy track, Johan Kristoffersson made the best start of the sixth round of the World Championship Rallycross in Holjes. The driver of the Volkswagen Polo from VW RX Sweden, second in the first qualifying round behind Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot 208 – Team Peugeot-Hansen), won in the second session of the day, at the moment when the Frenchman made a mistake by touching the wall, and subsequently encountering a puncture.

Despite his poor performance, the nine-time world champion remains third in the provisional ranking behind Toomas Heikkinen (Audi S1 – EKS RX). Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta – World RX Team Austria) and Niclas Grönholm (Ford Fiesta – Olsbergs MSE) complete the top 5.

Two of the favorites were hampered by problems this Saturday. Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3 – PSRX) is only in 15th place, after contact with Davy Jeanney in Q1. An accelerator problem slowed down the progress of Mattias Ekström (Audi S1 – EKS RX), only 17th. Only the first 12 in the intermediate ranking qualify for the final stages.
