World RX – Loeb’s 'comeback' to Trois-Rivières

However, luck did not smile on Sébastien Loeb during the first day in Trois-Rivières (Canada) for the 8e round of the championship. The track conditions were not there in Q1 and he was the collateral victim of a spin in Q2, relegating him to the bottom of the ranking before two 4e place in Q3 and Q4.

“After experiencing a real dark day on Saturday, where nothing smiled on us, comments Loeb, I had a great second part of the meeting! In Q3 and Q4, I completed two good rounds at the wheel of my Peugeot 208 WRX, whose balance was good again on this atypical track, notably composed of the longest straight in the championship."

Third in his semi-final, the nine-time world rally champion had to start from the last outside row for the grand final. This did not prevent the Alsatian from moving up to third position behind Johan Kristoffersson and Petter Solberg to claim a third consecutive podium.

« Also, I am particularly satisfied to climb on the podium having started from so far on the starting grid for the Final. I certainly benefited from a little success with the mechanical failure of my teammate Timmy Hansen. But before that, I had fought really hard to already be fourth at the first corner, find the opening on Toomas Heikkinen, then get rid of him! Once again, the whole team gave everything and this result rewards their significant efforts."

The next step for Sébastien Loeb will be at home for the Lohéac round (Brittany) on 1er until September 3.
