World RX – Petter Solberg finds success in Barcelona

A series of almost four months without victories has just ended for Petter Solberg. The reigning World RX World Champion ended his drought on the world stage today by winning the first round of the World RX Championship Rallycross ran to Barcelona in Catalonia.

After taking sixth place after the qualifying heats, the Norwegian shifted gears during the decisive events, initially taking second place in his semi-final before taking advantage of contact between Timmy Hansen (Team Peugeot -Hansen? Peugeot 208) and Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Team Sweden? VW Polo) at the first corner to take control of the final.

The driver of the Citroën DS3 of the SDRX will therefore no longer be joined and signs his third success of the year. An important victory in terms of the championship after seeing his lead at the top of the general classification reduce as the summer progressed.

Johan Kristoffersson and Timmy Hansen complete the final podium in front of the Frenchman Davy Jeanney (Team Peugeot-Hansen? Peugeot 208). In Euro RX, the Catalan round smiled on Tommy Rustad (Marklund Motorsport? VW Polo), while Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Albatec Racing? Peugeot 208) was quickly knocked offside for victory from the first moments of the final after contact. Andrea Dubourg won the S1600 category.
