World RX – Villeneuve wants to confirm in Finland

Jacques Villeneuve is progressing quickly in World RX on the Peugeot 208 from Albatec Racing. If the 1997 world champion F1 only has two points in the Championships, after notably missing the British event at Lydden Hill due to his entry into the Indianapolis 500, he showed off at Hell before suffering a puncture. “I was disappointed not to progress in Norway because I know the 208 Albatec is very fast, but that's the rallycross. It's not enough to be fast, we need regularity and a little more luck in order to achieve the best results. We made good progress in testing and in Norway. I am therefore confident before competing in an event about which I have heard a lot of good things. I won't be satisfied if I don't make it to the semi-finals at least. »

Driver boss Andy Scott is also keen to see the Canadian place at the forefront, now that the former world champion has managed to get his bearings behind the wheel of the Sochaux car. “After a very early start to the weekend in Norway, where Jacques was the fastest driver during the first two qualifying rounds, we left very disappointed not to have reached the finals. We know the 208 is competitive and Jacques' performance has never been in question. We therefore arrive in Finland determined to capitalize on the pace of the car and the driver, where only qualifying in the finals will be satisfactory. We have invested a lot of time, effort and money into this program and are confident we have all the elements to succeed. We just need to be able to convert all of this into results. »
