WorldRX – A Manfred Stohl – Max Pucher duo for Team Austria

The World Championship Rallycross attracts more and more. Its second edition, which will begin the weekend of April 24 to 26 in Montalegre, Portugal, will host the two Ford Fiesta Supercars from Team Austria. The cars with the blue oval will be entrusted to boss-pilot Max Pucher, as well as to Manfred Stohl, notably seen in the past in the World Rally Championship.

“Rallycross drivers are the gladiators of modern times, explains Pucher. World RX promoter IMG has managed to create a fan-pleasing format and some very close matchups. Racing on asphalt and dirt is very exciting. The budget is less compared to WRC, making it perfect for teams and partners. World RX is destined to become one of the most popular championships in motorsport. I am proud to have Manfred Stohl as a teammate and to bring the first Austrian team to the World Championship. »

Stohl, whose Stohl Racing team will build the two Ford Fiestas, admits that the involvement of Pucher facilitated his commitment. “When Max and I first contacted each other, he immediately told me about his dream and vision of taking an Austrian team to World RX. It was difficult at first to raise the money, and without Max's commitment, this project would never have come to fruition. I am certain that we will pilot a real concentration of technology, and that we will be at the forefront. »

Manfred Stohl took part in the final round of WorldRX 2014 in Argentina at the wheel of a Citroën DS3 from the PSRX team of the World Champion Petter Solberg.
