Paradoxically, the beautiful story begins across the Atlantic at the initiative of Bob Tullius' Group 44 Racing team. The latter, thanks to his successes with Jaguar, notably in the Trans-Am Series, managed to obtain a budget from the American division of the brand to develop a prototype. IMSA GTP, the XJR-5. In addition to its success in IMSA, the car provides Jaguar with the opportunity to return to 24 Hours of Le Mans
