In 1983, Lancia entered Group C, the new premier category of Endurance reserved for closed sports prototypes. Succeeding the LC1, an open box, the LC2 will remain the first and only Italian Group C.

The Lancia LC2 adopts, like its predecessors, an aluminum monocoque chassis as well as a Kevlar and carbon fiber bodywork, all made by Dallara.
