In 1983, Mario Andretti joined Team Newman/Haas to begin a fruitful collaboration which in 1984 allowed him to win, at the wheel of his formidable Lola T800, his 4th IndyCar crown, nineteen years after the first.

When he leaves the cockpit of his Ferrari 126C2, victim of a broken suspension on the Las Vegas circuit on September 25, 1982, Mario Andretti has nothing left to prove. Three-time champion IndyCar 1965, 1966 and 1969, and world champion of Formula 1 1978… Mario clearly deserves the too-often overused term legend.
