If his destiny is intimately linked to Williams, the Briton will forever remain the last driver personally recruited by Enzo Ferrari, who died in 1988. His first season for the Team in 1989 had mixed success, Nigel Mansell having to wipe the plaster of the revolutionary semi-automatic gearbox of the Ferrari 640 (See Ah 2356).
