10 years ago, Henri Pescarolo entrusted us with the wheel of the Pescarolo 01 on the Le Mans Circuit

Since 2006, only turbo diesel prototypes, developed by two major manufacturers, have won at Le Mans. An indomitable Gaul continued the fight using a car powered by an atmospheric V10. The Pescarolo 01 may not have been as fast, but it was certainly more exhilarating. AH 1834 of December 07, 2011

Ah, the performance equivalences between gasoline and diesel engines! For some time now, I have had a strange relationship with Henri Pescarolo on this subject, a sort of bickering devoid of rancor, but where everyone sticks wildly to their positions. The arguments of one come into confrontation with those of the other, and vice versa. With, I admit sometimes, an adorable dose of bad faith. It has also become a source of mutual teasing. Without sycophancy, I can say that I admire this great gentleman with a will of steel, but a tender heart. During the Test Day 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011, Henri made me a promise: to try his prototype, his unique piece, at the end of the season. At that moment, any brain presented with such an offer is lost between indescribable joy and gigantic distress. It's not every day that we find ourselves entrusted by Henri Pescarolo himself with the controls of a machine capable of traveling at more than 300 km/h!

A discussion with Henri Pescarolo is a fascinating moment, devoid of gaps as the subjects are diverse, varied and above all informative. © Bernard Asset
