The Finns couldn't believe it! They fought until the end to finally surrender, beaten by those stronger than them. He became the first Frenchman, and the second non-Nordic, to win at the 1000 lakes and offered the manufacturers' title to Lancia. AH845 of September 02, 1992 - Michel Lizin

Summer, it seems, was magnificent this year in Finland, with 50 consecutive days without the slightest precipitation. At least that is what Ari Vatanen, Grand Ambassador of Finland throughout the world, claims, and who, moreover, lives in France, in Haute-Provence. Ari is probably telling the truth. It is not his habit to lie, but it is equally true that the summer in Finland ended on the first day of reconnaissance for the Rally of the 1000 Lakes, to give way to the cold, the rain, the gray. The weather conditions hardly improved during the rally, without the spectator suffering.
