In seventy-four years of World Championship Formula 1, five women attempted to qualify for a Grand Prix: Maria Teresa de Filippis (1958 and 1959), Lella Lombardi (1974 to 76), Divina Galica (1976, 78), Desiré Wilson (1980) and Giovanna Amati (1992) .
