It is impossible to understand the emotion caused by the disappearance of Jules, following his accident at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, without mentioning the Bianchi saga. It all began in Milan, Italy, where Lucien and Mauro were born, sons of a technician fromAlfa Romeo. In 1950, the family emigrated to Brussels where the brothers began their careers as pilots under Belgian license (Mauro would not be naturalized French until 1985). They reached the summit in 1968, when Lucien finished 3rd in the Monaco Grand Prix, on Cooper-BRM, before winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Ford.
