French drivers in F1 – Sébastien Bourdais

Born February 28, 1979 in Le Mans (Sarthe)

Among active French drivers, Sébastien Bourdais is undoubtedly one of those with the best track records. A complete driver, he has won on four of the five continents and in all the disciplines he has competed in. The only one that escaped him was, alas, the Formula 1. Born near the Le Mans circuit, this son of a talented amateur driver – Patrick Bourdais – first distinguished himself in karting, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans of the specialty in 1996 after being French Cadet champion. In the meantime, he finished 9th in the Formula Campus in 1995. Seventh in the French Formula Championship Renault in 1996, he became vice-champion the following year, with four successes. In 1998, he was the best beginner in the French championship F3, which he finished in 6th place. In 1999, he won the title with eight victories. Three seasons will follow
