There's more to life than just single-seaters. However, the Circuit International Automobile des Remparts d'Angoulême, contested seven times between 1939 and 1955, established its notoriety on this type of vehicle. But at a time when inclusiveness is becoming more commonplace, the Charente organizers were keen to diversify their offering for this 49th edition which took place last weekend. Already planned for 2020, before Covid-19 took its toll, touring cars were therefore given the spotlight this year for the first time. Michel Loreille could very well have focused on older periods, but the track director, at the helm of the grids for more than three decades, wanted to celebrate this category through the most extreme regulations ever.
