Elfyn Evans' defeat against Sébastien Ogier at Monza (see page 46) is delaying the United Kingdom in its quest to find a successor to Richard Burns in the World Rally Championship firmament. Two decades ago, the treacherous Albion was perceived as “the” reference home of the discipline. Like France in the 1960s with the duel between Raymond Poulidor and Jacques Anquetil in cycling, our neighbors across the Channel had the luxury of choosing their side. Show fans favored Colin McRae, the Scotsman with a big heart.
