Has success left the crew of United Autosports No. 22 ? 7th at Sebring and 5th at Spa-Francorchamps, the American Oreca 07-Gibson has not found the path to success since the 6 Hours of Monza in July 2021, while the sister car won at the round of season opener, contested at Sebring, with Paul di Resta, Oliver Jarvis and Josh Pierson. The crew formed by Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and Will Owen did not lack pace during the first meetings of this 2022 financial year. WEC, but the results did not follow. By simple lack of luck?

Hanson and Albuquerque confident

“I feel like we haven't had any luck since the 24 Hours of Le Mans from last year, believes Phil Hanson. We were 24 points ahead, which is almost an entire race in a normal points system, before Le Mans and we thought 2021 was going to be our year, but we had a problem that will not happen again. We know what the cause was and we can avoid it, but there are always a multitude of thousands of other things that can go wrong with the car that we wouldn't have thought of. The stable does a great job of protecting us from all the things we've had before, making sure they won't happen again. Since then we have been on the pace in Bahrain, Sebring and Spa where I made a mistake. We did not achieve the desired result in these races, but we were in the fight. We failed to seize the opportunities given to us. However, we are in good momentum this week, so I hope we can capitalize on it. »

“I think we need to keep moving forward, completes his teammate Filipe Albuquerque. We have a good car and when it is fast you can always compensate and come back, especially a 24-hour race. It's about managing risk, because there are a lot of things happening that are outside of your control. I don't think we've had two races in a row in the WEC without red flags. We showed the pace we had in previous qualifying. So I have no doubt that this will happen by remaining united. »

By starting from second position on the grid at 16 p.m. this Saturday in the LM P2 category, the No. 22 from United Autosports has a good opportunity to secure a victory that has eluded it for almost a year.
