The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022 left at great speed. Without the slightest neutralization under Full Course Yellow or Safety-Car after eight hours of effort, the double clock lap from Sarthe set off on the basis of a new distance record. The current one dates from 2010 when Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas completed 397 laps in their Audi R15 TDI Plus. At midnight, the Toyota Gazoo Racing dominates the debates in the general classification. The No. 7 and the No. 8 exchanged control of the race several times and the gap was measured in a handful of seconds between the two hybrid Hypercars.

La Team Cameron Glickenhaus suffered a setback on the No. 708, the one which was best placed until Olivier Pla went off at Tertre Rouge and suffered a puncture (15th). Franck Mailleux-Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe are third, 2 laps behind the Toyotas.

To Alpine, all hope of performance went to waste after dropping eight laps in repairs related to the clutch and then to a coil.

In LM P2, the English team Jota prances with more than a minute of margin on the Oreca 07 of the Italian team Prema. Sébastien Ogier (Richard Mille Racing) ranks 12th; Sebastian Bourdais (Vector Sport) is 24th after going off the track and having a mechanical problem.

The GTE Pro was full of twists and turns. Porsche took the lead with the #92 following a puncture and damaged suspension for the #63 Corvette, which seemed impregnable until 22 p.m. The No. 64 Corvette has changed its brake pads and is trying to regain a foothold on a podium occupied by the two official 911 RSRs and the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo of outgoing winners Pier Guidi-Calado accompanied by Serra (No. 51).

Finally, in GTE Am, the Porsche 911 RSR of Julien Andlauer-Cooper MacNeil-Thomas Merrill has enough of a lead to control its pace against the #77 Porsche and theAston Martin n ° 33.
