The Fédération International de l'Automobile confirmed this Tuesday, September 20, the calendar for the 2023 season of the world championship of Formula 1, which AUTOhebdo had previously reported on.

If the calendar F1 2023 will reach the record figure of 24 races, it will above all avoid any confrontation of dates with the centenary of 24 Hours of Le Mans, June 10 and 11, 2023.

« The presence of 24 races on the 1 FIA Formula 2023 World Championship calendar is further proof of the growth and appeal of the sport on a global scale, said Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA. The addition of new venues and the maintenance of traditional events underline the good management of the sport by the FIA. I am delighted that we can bring the new era of exciting Formula 1 racing, created by the 2022 FIA regulations, to a wider fan base in 2023.  In framing the F1 2023 calendar, members of the WMSC (World Motor Sport Council. Editor’s note) The prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans also took into account the calendar. »

Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, was delighted with this news: “The calendar for the Formula 1 World Championship has been published and all endurance enthusiasts are delighted to note that no Grand Prix will take place during the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, next June. I would like to sincerely thank the FIA and its president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, as well as Formula One Management, for making this important decision possible. »

The centenary edition of the Le Mans classic will see the arrival and return of many manufacturers to Sarthe. With Toyota, Peugeot , Porsche, Ferrari, Cadillac or even Glickenhaus, motorsport fans won't want to miss this event for anything in the world.

On the other hand, when reading the provisional calendar for WEC 2023, all the other races (except Fuji) are in direct competition with a GP.
