Nicolas Lapierre: “Being a real competitor against Toyota”

Pile Alpine since 2018 after a first stint in 2016 and a escapade in 2017 at Toyota, the 38-year-old Frenchman has seen the Signatech team grow in recent years. With four victories in LM P2, the Haut-Savoyard hopes to lift the curse that seems to be hitting him in the premier category.

Nicolas Lapierre: “Being a real competitor against Toyota”

Nicolas, does this start of the season marked by your victory at Sebring give you any ideas for Le Mans ?

The Sebring layout isn't like much else in the world: the tarmac is special and the track is extremely bumpy. It corresponded very well to our car and much less to the Toyota (approximately 100 kg heavier. Editor’s note). We remain lucid and the balance of power will probably be reversed at Le Mans. Despite everything, we are happy to have worked well this winter and to have progressed.

After a podium last year (3rd) and this first success in WEC, the objective can only be victory for this 90th edition…

I do not think so. Toyota is really strong at Le Mans and will probably be much stronger than at Sebring. We don't veil ourselves
