LMS: Aston Martin facing disaster

The results of the AMR-One at the 6 Hours of Le Castellet disappointed many observers. The AMR-One finished the 6 Hours of Le Castellet in 29th place, behind the best GTEs. However, Harold Primat had warned from the outset: victory was not the objective at Castellet. “Here, our objective is to cover as many laps as possible in order to detect the weak points of the car, explained the Swiss driver before taking off. For the moment, we are a little conservative with the engine, and we will not perform well this weekend. » Despite everything, expectations for a new car, especially one Aston Martin, are always numerous.

As for the British manufacturer, however, this full-scale test session proved to be fruitful. The car completed 96 laps and accumulated a significant number of kilometers. “This weekend, we made good progress on our development program, notes George Howard-Chappell, technical director. We took advantage of this session in a racing situation to better understand how the car behaves in traffic. I should point out that we are at the very beginning of our development process and we are returning home to continue preparations for the test day at Le Mans, a month later. »

It is certainly too early to draw hasty conclusions about the performance of the AMR-One. At Le Mans, the English team will have completed the development of its new weapon and perhaps it will then come to tickle Audi and Peugeot at the top of the hierarchy. First elements of response on April 24 during the test day of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
